The university is one of the oldest and largest engineering universities in the world.

Chemist Mendeleev served as director of the State Examination Committee of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute.

It has 19 departments, 5 academic research institutes, 14 research institutions and 6 mechanical engineering centers, has 44 academicians and members of the Academy of Sciences, and has more than 2,000 professors, assistant professors and researchers.

There are more than 30,000 students in the school, including about 800 foreign students from more than 50 different countries in the world and more than 500 graduate students. The school has more than 50,000 students and staff.

It is the largest university in Ukraine, second only to Moscow University in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Its school is located on the beautiful banks of the Digne River, in the center of Kiev, the capital of liberal arts. The school covers an area of 160 hectares. It is a complete university city. The school has a safety management system, sports facilities, hospitals, subway stations and special apartments for foreign students. Many famous scientists in the world such as: Dmitry Mendeleev, Igor Sidorsky, Sergey Korolev, Stepan Timoshenko, Yevgeny Patton , Boris Patton, etc., they all had close ties with the Ukrainian National University of Science and Technology.

In addition to adding new majors such as information and automobile manufacturing in the industrial field, the school has also established some economics and humanities departments: such as marketing and management, law, sociology, language department, physical education department, etc.

The school hopes to provide more opportunities for young people in the fields of humanities and economics, so that they can become qualified translators or management talents.

The Ukrainian National University of Science and Technology adopts the education system of a world-renowned university. After 10 months of selective study of Ukrainian, Russian, English, mathematics, physics, ecology and other subjects, it officially enters the university.

The university has a well-developed entertainment and leisure infrastructure, including sports, entertainment, arts and more. The university has a sports center with indoor swimming pool, multi-hall building and football field. Kiev Polytechnic Institute has always been an important center of sports life in the city.

Its football team "Politechniki" was one of the first football teams that existed in the Russian Empire from 1906 to 1917. The university operates several leisure resorts across the country.

Two resorts are located near Kiev, one in the Carpathian Mountains and the other near the Black Sea. The university has its own art center located in the Center of Culture and Arts, known by its Soviet-standard name "Palace of Culture".

The KPI Center Culture and Art Concert Hall is the main venue for the Ukrainian National Qualification for the Continental Song Contest. There are two parks within the university.
