Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (Kharkov State Technical University)

National Technical University "Kharkov Institute of Technology" (English abbreviation: KhTI) is the first and oldest technical higher education institution in Ukraine and one of the largest education centers in eastern Ukraine. In the 2012 ranking of prestigious universities in Ukraine, the university became one of the top ten leaders.

In 1885 in Kharkiv was founded the Polytechnic Institute named after Lenin of the Order of Lenin. The academy was at that time the second technical institute after the Russian Empire, after St. Petersburg. In addition, this college is the second time that Imperial Russia established a technical research institute in Ukraine after the Lviv Technical College (1844) in the history of Ukraine, and began to recruit students. In 1929 it was renamed the Lenin Polytechnic Institute. In 1930, five independent universities of mechanical engineering, electrical, chemical technology, civil engineering, and aviation were established on the basis of independent colleges and research institutes. In 1949, the four universities of mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical and cement trades merged to form the Polytechnic Institute. In April 1994 the institution received university status and changed its name to Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute. In 2000 the institution received state status and officially changed its name to State Technical University "Kharkov Polytechnic Institute". From 2010 to 2014 the university had the status of a national university for autonomous (autonomous) research.

 

Today the university has a strong team, with about sixty to seventy percent of the science doctoral professors and associate professors. There are more than 26,000 students in school. Among the alumni who graduated from the university are Nobel Prize winners, Lenin Prize winners, etc., as well as well-known figures such as famous scientists, mathematicians, inventors, etc.

 

The university is very active in international activities, the university cooperates with countries from the world Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Great Britain, Greece, Georgia, Estonia, Spain, Italy, China, South Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Russia, More than 170 higher education institutions in more than 40 different countries, including Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the United States, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Tajikistan, etc., have established cooperative relations.

 

The university regularly sends students, graduate students, teaching staff and scientific workers to participate in exchange programs, "double diploma" programs, international academic exchange programs, grants and scholarships, partner training partners, international projects, summer schools and language courses and different International events (conferences, forums, seminars, etc.) etc. At present, the university has cooperated with universities in Germany, Austria, France, Poland, South Korea, Switzerland, etc. to realize 14 "double diploma" courses. Every year the university hosts more than 30 international science and engineering conferences, some large international forums, lectures and exhibitions. The University is constantly participating in international exhibitions abroad. Every year more than 400 scientists, teachers, students and graduate students of the University go abroad for research and training, or to attend conferences, seminars and/or attend language courses. Every year the university welcomes more than 200 foreign experts, students and graduate students to study at the school.
